I spent the first part of my day on Reddit getting some valuable feedback from fellow horror fans. I posted the initial mask concept and the response was amazing. No one was negative or mean, they were helpful and honest. For those of you who haven't seen the initial concept here it is:
An endless stream of horror movies are being played as we work on the Kickstarter video and continue to study the analytics behind successful Kickstarter campaigns. There is a wealth of knowledge to be had and my dad is working tirelessly to decipher it and use it to aid us in our campaign. So far we have watched the original Friday the 13th and right now the Evil Dead remake is playing. I love this movie! Took a much needed break this past week to recharge the batteries and get ready for what looks to be a crazy August! Getting the Kickstarter ready has been our top priority. I can't believe how much work my dad has done when it comes to researching the analytics behind successful Kickstarter campaigns. I don't think he slept the entire week I was away at camp.
We have been putting together our incentives/perks for the campaign and we feel like we have come up with some really cool stuff. However we want to hear from you, the potential contributors. What would motivate you to hit the support button? What perk would make you part ways with a couple bucks to help us make our slasher film? We need your input! Help us give you what you want! Leave a comment below or email me your thoughts. slashergirl13@carvermovie.com Can't wait to hear from you! That is what I keep telling myself. So much anxiety leading up to the launch of the CARVER Kickstarter Campaign. We are filming some pick up shots tomorrow then that's it. We will edit it all together. I really think all of you are going to like it. Hopefully you will like it enough to help us make CARVER. My dad and I have worked hard on the perks for those kind enough to donate. But at the end of the day it isn't what we think. All we can do is put ourselves out there and hope for the best. We have also been going back and forth over how we want our masked killer to look. We have gone through dozens of mask ideas as well as our killer's attire and weapon of choice. We have pretty much settled on weapon of choice but mask and attire are proving to be a little more difficult. We want our killer to be memorable both in the look and in his method. It is quite a challenge. We have another great poster concept created by Brian Mitchell. I think out of all the ones we have seen so far this one is my favorite. I am beyond excited to make this film. I am so proud of what we have accomplished up to this point. I hope it keeps on going! Thanks for reading! Don't forget to tell a friend about CARVER!
I want to thank those who have already clicked the cast and crew tab and submitted a contact form to help with CARVER! Each day brings me one day closer to principal photography. I know there is so much to do before then, the pre-production process has been quite an education. The fact that so many people seem interested and willing to help really excites me at the prospect of what may be.
A couple of quick updates. We are still editing the Kickstarter video together. It looks absolutely amazing so far. I can't get over how great the Black Magic Cinema works. The images our DP, Edan Cohen has shown us are mind blowing. I can't wait to see the finished product so we can launch our campaign and hopefully raise our budget. I've been working with my dad every day preparing lists. What kind of lists? Mostly wish lists I must admit. Lists of actors/actresses we would like to appear in our film...Bruce Campbell are you listening? Wouldn't that be amazing? Working with the iconic Bruce Campbell. You never know, crazier things have happened. My dad tells me it's just a matter of making an offer to his agent and if he has an opening in his schedule. I would scream like an insane fan girl if Bruce walked on to the CARVER set. A girl can dream can't she? As always thanks for reading and if you know Bruce tell him to drop me line. slashergirl13@carvermovie.com :) Everyday the first thing I do is check my email because so many people have written to show their support and to inquire about working on CARVER. I am so blown away by how generous and eager people are to help make my dream come true.
A lot of people have asked how they can help and the honest answer right now is keep spreading the word about the movie and once the Kickstarter is launched share it everywhere you can. We will be casting and hiring our crew once the Kickstarter has completed and we hopefully raise the budget we need to make the film. After that we will be posting the jobs and the available roles. Our plan is to have our cast and crew set by the end of November. Then we want to start filming Spring of 2014. There is so much to do but right now we are busy editing the Kickstarter campaign video and putting together an exciting and affordable list of perks to those gracious enough to donate. If you are interested in an acting role or crew position once we start hiring you can click on the Cast and Crew tab on this website and fill out a quick contact form. We will add you to our files and contact you once we are hiring. Once again thank you for reading my blog and showing interest in Carver! Edan, our wonderful editor was kind enough to send me some screen caps from the recent shoot and I am blown away at how they look. We went all out for this shoot. I tried to give my dad all my birthday and Christmas money to help with the shoot. I know making something that looks and sounds great isn't cheap and I didn't want my dad paying for everything. This is our movie. I wanted him to see how dedicated I was to making this successful. When I handed my dad the 486 dollars I had saved he looked as if he was going to cry. My dad works hard to provide for me and I have now seen first hand what it costs to make something even as small as a Kickstarter video. But he wouldn't take the money. He told me to save it for something frivolous. So I will take his advice...doesn't mean it has to be something frivolous for me. I think dad is going to get a nice surprise in the very near future.
Anyhow, I said we went all out for this shoot and we did. We filmed with the Black Magic Cinema Camera and holy crap what a camera! I was amazed at how incredible the footage looked and how easy the camera was to use. I was in front of the camera for most of the shoot but I got to stand along side our DP during the filming of other segments and I was stunned at how simple the BMCC was to operate. I am not going to pretend that I know a lot about cameras. But I am learning as much as I can, because this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to make movies, I want to entertain people. I hope all of that comes across when we launch our Kickstarter campaign and I hope all of you will help. My dad and I have worked very hard to come up with exciting and most importantly, reasonable perks. We hope to launch the Kickstarter August 1st so stay tuned. In the meantime if you want to help with CARVER you can fill out a contact form on this web site and we will add you to our email list for CARVER updates. Or, you can email me directly: slashergirl13@carvermovie.com! I look forward to hearing from you! |
