My dad has been asking, or should I say hounding me to blog about what we have going on so in the interest of my sanity I am going to begin blogging on a regular basis.
I should start by introducing myself. My name is Emily DiPrimio and I am 13 years old. Last October, we began production on a web series titled Violet, where I was playing the lead character. During filming I noticed that if I was on my feet for any length of time my ankle would become swollen and bruised. My dad took me to an orthopedist and it was found that I needed ankle surgery to repair my ankle. A spacer needed to be inserted between the bones in my ankle and this would require me to be in a boot for 8-12 weeks. This put Violet on hold and it made me depressed. I was really into Violet and thought it had great potential. My dad, noticing how down I was told me about a slasher script he had been working on and he asked me to read it over and help him with the dialogue for the younger characters. Before I knew it we were writing a screenplay together. I never knew how much fun it would be to write a screenplay! Creating a character, watching it come to life, and in the case of a slasher film killing them in the goriest manner possible was amazing. Writing the screenplay with my dad made my recovery time fly by. Soon after the boot came off my dad asked if I would like to direct this film with him. I can't describe how excited that made me.
Since then we have been working hard on pre-production. I've worked on my dad's movies in the past but I never realized how much went into getting ready to film. Right now we are concentrating on raising the funds necessary to make my dream a reality. We worked hard on creating a Kickstarter concept we hope will appeal to both horror and non-horror fans. We film the bulk of the kickstarter next weekend, I'm getting a little nervous but in a good way.
We have a bunch of talented people helping us with the Kickstarter and I know that it's going to look and sound great!
That's about all for right now...happy dad? :)
